Surrey Junior Open – the results: St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club played host to The TWP Surrey Junior Open Dec 16-18th and the event attracted 100 entries from all over the country. Local players performed well in this national tournament with St George’s Hill’s 10 year old Harry North claiming the Under 11 title with a fine 3-0 win over Joel Braddock (Essex) in the final. The fast improving Matt Broadberry 14, from the host club, narrowly lost out in the Boys Under 15 Final. Heathside student Tom Bailey 15 reached the final of the Under 17 Boys but was unable to make an impression on Angus Gillams of Millfield who is ranked number 8 nationally.
Reed’s School’s Dan Clarke lost to Gillams in the semi final. Other notable local performances included Vickie Morgan reaching the semi final of the Girl’s Under 13′s in her first ever tournament. The St George’s Hill player lead 2-0 in games against Alice Hill but couldn’t quite manage a win in spite of a close battle in the last three games. In the Plate event for 1st round losers Monty Crawford 9 was runner up in the Under 11′s, Sarah Broadberry was runner up in the Girls Under 13 and Lochlan Walshe reached the semi final of the Boys Under 13.

Surrey Closed, Sept. 2011: Results The highlight of the Junior Closed was the double success of Seigo Masuda who won the Boys U17 and U19 titles. All of the age group winners are shown below.
